Mrs. Ceresa - SLAM Academy Counselor
Hello! My name is
Mrs. Ceresa and I am the SLAM Academy
counselor for grades 10-12. SLAM Academy includes the service professions
of Law Enforcement, Medical Careers, Culinary Arts, and Human Services. I have a bachelor’s degree in English
Literature from Franklin and Marshall College and a master’s degree in
Elementary Education from Wayne State University. I also have my master’s degree in School and
Agency Counseling from Wayne State University.
I have always wanted to be in a helping profession, and both teaching
and counseling have been very rewarding careers for me.
I have been working for East Detroit Public Schools since 1998. I taught at both Warrendale and Crescentwood Elementary until 2012. I taught a variety of levels including first, second, third and fourth grades. I also spent one semester at Bellview Elementary as a Title One Teacher. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at East Detroit, and have gained many valuable experiences as an educator. I started my career as a counselor at Kellwood Alternative High School and spent a year there as the counselor for grades 9-12. I was transferred to EDHS for the 2012-2013 school year. I have been the SLAM Academy counselor for two years. It has been so wonderful to see many of my previous students from the elementary schools here at East Detroit!
