Mrs. VanVallis - AMMP Academy Counselor
Hello! My name is Mrs. VanVallis and I am the AMMP Academy counselor for grades 10-12. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in K-8 Education at Ball State University and later earned my Masters Degree in Guidance Counseling at Oakland University.
I have been working for East Detroit for 17 years. I started out as a long term substitute in a Kindergarten classroom, then ended up with a full-time position in the 1st grade. I spent five years as a 1st grade teacher at Crescentwood Elementary before getting my counseling degree. I started my career as a counselor at Kellwood Alternative High School and spent eight years there as the counselor for grades 9-12. I was transferred to EDHS for the 2011-2012 school year and was the 10th grade counselor. For the past three years I have been the AMMP Counselor. Before I moved to Michigan I spent time in both Indiana and South Carolina teaching various grades as both a Title I teacher and a classroom teacher for the 3rd grade. Overall I have spent 22 years in the field of education and I have enjoyed every moment of it! I still enjoy working with students of all ages and hope to continue in this field for many years to come! You can reach me at (586) 533-3700 ext. 36451 or via email at [email protected]. |
